biography
early years

trail born , raised in north west london immigrants jamaica. trail s music mix of soul, reggae, hip hop, folk, , modern electro, influenced r&b , jamaican reggae. mother introduced him reggae , soul in childhood. travelling jamaica every summer helped him secure roots , culture. lists acts such bob marley, john holt, gregory isaacs , toots & maytals of reggae influences, , omar, sade, marvin gaye, stevie wonder , donny hathaway soul influences. influences in modern music include little dragon, outkast, roots manuva, prince, bon iver , has taken great interest in way music used in film in theatre.

at 15, trail obtained atari , began drawing sketches in bedroom in wembley. later, attended weekend arts college in camden, gained experience in composition, performance , musicianship, of shaped debut album living. mentored 3 tutors, john mullon, rachel bennet , julie dexter, encouraged writing/sense of british identity. @ same time became aware of british music scene, finding artist omar, roots manuva, artful dodger, , nitin sawhney.

trail first shot fame after passing ba hons in music production , business, when collaborated streets. provided vocals on streets hit single let s push things forward , , on same old thing original pirate material album. single let s push things forward peaked @ no. 30 in uk singles chart. single experience of chart success , remains biggest hit date. trail commented @ time, mike skinner talented guy – rate him, man. hadn t heard before, , s attracted me project. skinner invited trail tour part of streets live experience.

just living era

in 2004 trail signed emi , released first solo single, perspective . second single, d thames released in february 2005 , fared better. trail collaborated uk rapper estelle on single s remix, featured b-side.

on 7 march 2005, released debut album, living. commented @ time album stuff experienced, album life. write experience, s going on round me. example, in d thames , talks moment of clarity, in perspective , talks everyday anxieties , bread discusses pleasure , politics of when food served on family s dinner table. trail wrote, demoed , produced tracks in bedroom first , arranged them , performed them band in studio. kevin commented s trying better person, trying achieve , give back. re facing new things , rising challenge, s constant battle. ve got keep moving forward , stay positive.

as touring streets, trail performed @ venues including jazz café in london. collaborated nitin sawhney on track eastern eyes , taken album human, after watched 1 of trail s live performances. collaboration received positive reviews, time out magazine comparing vocal performance donny hathaway, 1 of major influences. shortly after release of living, trail toured beverley knight on affirmation tour, received favourable reviews. on tour trail previewed brand new song, last night , released shortly after on re-release of living. album re-released on 4 july 2005, new track ticket line .

recently kevin has been spending lot of time working in new zealand, has resulted in touring/recording nathan haines , sola rosa. continuing work new zealand artists, kevin writing , producing chris cheatland of baitercell, sweet mix kids , sola rosa. @ home in uk kevin working on album basement jaxx vocalist sharlene hector , next release.
