connelly began career judicial law clerk u.s. court of appeals d.c. circuit 1983 1984. in private practice 1984 1990 prior joining united states department of justice.

connelly joined u.s. department of justice in 1990. during 12 years @ justice, connelly served special attorney united states attorney general john ashcroft , janet reno, chief of u.s. attorney s office appellate section, , criminal division trial attorney. special attorney attorney general, connelly member of trial team , lead appellate prosecutor in oklahoma city bombing cases. prosecutions resulted in separate convictions of timothy mcveigh , terry nichols april 1995 bombing of alfred p. murrah federal building in oklahoma city, resulted in 168 deaths.


reilly pozner llp 2002 - 2008

following roles @ u.s. department of justice, connelly returned private practice in 2002 @ law firm of reilly pozner llp (known hoffman, reilly & pozner @ time). 1 of publicized cases during time @ reilly pozner involved ownership dispute of denver broncos between pat bowlen , edgar kaiser. kaiser sold share of team bowlen in 1984. kaiser sued bowlen in 2004 after bowlen offered john elway 10% share in team. kaiser claimed have first right of refusal ownership change , subsequently won judgment against bowlen breach of contract. connelly represented bowlen during appeal process, during appeals court overturned original ruling, stating deal between bowlen , elway did not violate agreement between kaiser , bowlen. connelly made partner in firm in 2002 , firm until 2008 prior judicial appointment.


colorado court of appeals 2008 - 2011

connelly appointed colorado court of appeals governor bill ritter in 2008. during time on bench, authored more 40 published opinions. in july 2010, announced not seek retention of appointment , return law firm of reilly pozner llp oversee opening of new law office in washington d.c.
