on 13 december, struck kamikaze off negros island. aircraft crashed port 5 in/127mm gun mount, both bombs exploding 10 ft (3 m) off deck. gasoline fires , exploding ammunition made midships area inferno, although 133 sailors killed , 190 wounded, remaining 5 in (127 mm) guns continued provide anti-aircraft fire.


the attack group commander, rear admiral arthur dewey struble, shifted flag dashiell, , nashville steamed via san pedro bay in philippines , pearl harbor, oahu, puget sound naval shipyard, arriving on 12 january 1945, heavy repairs. underway on 12 march, nashville departed westward san diego, california on 15 april after training exercises.


arriving @ u.s. naval base subic bay, on 16 may, nashville became flagship of tf 74. closing months of war spent providing fire support landings @ brunei bay, borneo, , protecting aircraft carriers in makassar straits, dutch east indies. on 29 july, nashville made brief sortie subic intercept japanese convoy reported off indochina, sortie canceled, ending final wartime operation.
