captions start capital letter.
most captions not complete sentences merely sentence fragments should not end period. however, if complete sentence occurs in caption, every sentence , every sentence fragment in caption should end period.
the text of captions should not specially formatted, except in ways apply if occurred in main text (e.g., italics latin name of species).
captions should succinct; more information can included on description page, or in main text.
captions technical charts , diagrams may need substantially longer usual; should describe elements of image , indicate significance.
