early career sinawe

at age, hyeon-cheol had fascination music. @ 14, participated in several amateur rock bands. took stage name of seo taiji @ age 17, when recruited heavy metal band sinawe bass guitarist shin daechul. chose drop out of school because felt continuing enrolled in school not useful in pursuing career in music.

seo taiji , boys: 1992-1996

seo taiji , boys south korean boy band. although including yang hyun-suk , lee juno, taiji leader , main songwriter , began signature of mixing many different genres of music. had several controversies songs , lyrics, became first modern highly successful band in south korean music industry.

solo career: 1998-present
1998: seo tai ji

two years after seo taiji , boys retirement, taiji resumed career musician. solo career has , continues successful. returned true roots , perform rock music. without appearances or activity in south korea, released album couple of music videos in 1998. there controversy on sudden reversal of retirement, first solo album seo tai ji sold more million copies, without promotion in korea. first solo work included heavy metal , nu metal songs, main genre still alternative rock. although first solo work, fans refer 5th album.

2000-2001: ultramania

on june 13, held nationwide tour named möbius . first of concerts held in seoul, korea. tour has ended, repeat performance given 2 months after finish. etpfest 2009 held guest groups such nin, limp bizkit, keane, fade, boom boom satellites, pia , gumx.

2014–2015: quiet night

in 2013, seo taiji announced had been working on new album. first single new album, sogyeokdong , released in october 2014. single released in 2 parts: first part, collaboration iu, released october 2, , second part on october 10. album, quiet night, released on october 20.

2017–present: seo taiji 25 project

in april 2017 announced seo taiji assembling group of modern k-pop acts cover songs past celebrate 25th anniversary of debut seo taiji , boys. first act announced project bts, other acts including urban zakapa , younha. first single project, cover of come home (from seo taiji , boys iv) recorded bts, released music video on july 5 2017. next song, cover of moai (from atomos), released on july 11, performed urban zakapa.
