in articles not specific country, express amounts of money in united states dollars, euros, or pounds sterling. not link names or symbols of currencies commonly known english-speakers ($, £, €), unless there particular reason so; not use potentially ambiguous currency symbols, unless meaning clear in context.
in country-specific articles, use currency of country. on first occurrence, consider including conversion dollars, euros, or pounds sterling, @ rate appropriate context. example, since 2001 grant has been 10,000,000 swedish kronor (€1.0m of august 2009). wording such approx. not appropriate simple rounding-off of converted amount.
generally, use full name of currency, , link on first appearance if english-speakers unfamiliar (52 nepalese rupees); subsequent occurrences can use currency sign (just 88 rs).
