blandine existed january 6 january 12.

this system formed southeast of seychelles on january 7 before becoming disorganized while interacting northern madagascar. system redeveloped hurricane-force cyclone in northern mozambique channel on january 16 before moving southeast madagascar on january 19.

this storm lasted 18 hours on february 1.

cyclone gervaise

intense tropical cyclone gervaise formed on 1 february 1975 in south of diego garcia. on following day, cyclone started intensify gradually producing waves of 15 m high. cyclone moving in west-south-west direction towards madagascar when on 4 february 1975, cyclone curved south-south-west direction, showing potential danger island of mauritius. on 5 february 1975, intense tropical cyclone gervaise approached mauritius eye centered on island on morning of 6th february 1975. calm weather prevailed on island 09.30hr till 13hr30 , later weather started deteriorate again average wind speeds on 200kmh approx 12 hours either side of eye , maximum gusts of 280 km/h until 2 o clock in morning of 7th of february. caused substantial damage properties, vegetation , wildlife. moored yachts around coast washed hundreds of yards inland in places due storm surge , in capital port louis, cargo ship of ca. 10,000 tonnes washed on quay. 6 deaths - 34 injured, 3,706 homeless.
