in 1887, judge bowden started marketing , selling lithia spring water under brand name bowden lithia water. same year, sweet water health resort opened, offering lithia water , lithia vapor baths. mark twain, vanderbilts, presidents cleveland, taft, mckinley, , theodore roosevelt said have visited resort.


also in 1887, lithia springs mineral water won gold medal par excellence @ piedmont exposition in atlanta.
