the famous lines of ballad are:



hurt not slain.


i ll lay me down , bleed awhile,


then ll rise , fight again.



his story told in scottish child ballad called henry martyn (child ballad number 250). rudyard kipling wrote short story connected barton in puck of pook s hill series.
