a couple (saranya ponvannan , charan raj) travel in train chennai along twin babies. during journey, robber in train kidnaps 1 of babies , gets down train. steals jewels , leaves baby in garden , runs away. saranya , charan raj lodge complaint police. kidnapped baby found nassar , ambika , adopt , raise baby theirs.

27 years pass by, vasudevan aka vasu (suriya) works private detective agency in chennai , lives parents saranya , charan raj, while kidnapped baby grown vetrivel aka vel (also suriya) in village named chokkampatti near dindigul. vel’s family respected in village deeds , responsible protecting villagers local politician , goon sakkarapandi (kalabhavan mani). sakkarapandi killed vel’s parents years ago , wants revenge killing other members in family also. vel takes responsibility of protecting family members. meanwhile, saranya , charan raj keep worrying years fate of lost child.

vasu falls in love swathi (asin), tv anchor. both decide married. swathi, during visit dindigul tv show, sees vel involving in local clash , informs vasu. vasu suspects might twin brother , decides leave village more information. appatha (lakshmi) grandmother of vel , fears someday vel’s biological parents find him , take him away them. shock, vasu goes vel’s home , meets him. informs incidents , wants him come him chennai , meet parents. vel gets shocked knowing past, neglects saying cannot leave adopted family , prefers stay them in dindigul.

vasu requests vel permit him stay week in dindigul along vel’s family. vel agrees , vasu becomes close family members. vasu gets know sakkarapandi , thirst revenge on vel’s family. flashback shown nassar finds sakkarapandi’s illegal businesses made him lose mp post , gets jailed. sakkarapandi, after getting released jail, poisons nassar , ambika. wants vel’s entire family dead. vasu plans send brother vel chennai. requests vel visit biological parents disguised vasu , stay there few days, know mother’s love towards him. vel agrees hesitatingly.

vasu wants brother lead peaceful life free sickles , fights. plans trap sakkarapandi strategically rather physical attack. vasu brings team of investigative officers detective agency , asks them closely monitor sankarapandi’s moves , gather family details. meanwhile vel meets parents saranya , charan raj in chennai , stays them without revealing true identity. swathi’s relatives plan ring exchange ceremony between vel , swathi mistaking him vasu. vel discloses parents elder son lost years surprises parents.

vasu calls swathi assist him whereby swathi sent sakkarapandi’s house interview wife (aishwarya) thereby searching evidence against sakkarapandi. sakkarapandi’s college sealed selling drugs students, , vasu gets evidence of sakkarapandi visiting nearby forest hunting wild animals. sakkapandi gets arrested police. revenge, sakkarapandi poisons food provided appatha. however, saved vasu. knowing this, vel rushes chennai dindigul meet appatha. vel’s family comes know vasu in disguise of vel angers them. scold vasu , ask him leave place immediately. vasu leaves along swathi.

sakkarapandi plants bomb in sugar factory , plans kill villagers working in factory, thereby planning create chaos in town. vasu , vel know plans , fight against sakkarapandi following sakkarapandi killed when leg accidentally gets stuck between railway tracks.

vasu informs mother let allow vel stay in dindigul entire family feel pain of losing son raised 27 years them. saranya understands , says happy both sons leading life , not want hurt entire family taking away vel them. vel stays adopted family in dindigul while vasu , swathi united.
