Section organization Wikipedia:Manual of Style



an article should begin introductory lead section, should not contain section headings (see wikipedia:manual of style/lead section). remainder of article may divided sections, subsections, etc.


the lead should concise summary. newly added information not qualify important enough lead; should placed in appropriate section or sections (see wp:lead). infoboxes, images, , related content in lead section must right-aligned.


if article has @ least 4 section headings, navigable table of contents appears automatically, after lead.


if topic of section covered in more detail in dedicated article (see wikipedia:summary style) insert {{main|article name}} under section heading.


as explained in more detail in wp:manual of style/layout § standard appendices , footers, optional appendix , footer sections containing following lists may appear after body of article, in following order:



books or other works created subject of article (under section heading works , publications , discography , etc. appropriate);
internal links related english wikipedia articles (section heading see );
notes , references (section heading notes or references , or separate section each; see citing sources);
relevant books, articles, or other publications have not been used sources (section heading further reading );
relevant websites have not been used sources , not appear in earlier appendices (added part of further reading or in separate section headed external links );
internal links organized navigational boxes (sometimes placed @ top in form of sidebars);
categories.

other article elements include disambiguation hatnotes (normally placed @ top of article) , infoboxes (usually placed before lead section).
