the team s debut @ world championship race @ sachsenring in 2001, team entered mika kallio wildcard rider. team , kallio took part in competition in valencia later in year. team s bikes labelled honda brand name, though engines supplied ajo. 2002 first season in ajo regular competitor in world championship, kallio main rider. best result season fifth place in jerez, , kallio named rookie of year , beating riders such andrea dovizioso , jorge lorenzo.


in 2003, team expanded 2 bikes, kallio being joined japanese competitor masao azuma. kallio left team in august after receiving offer ktm. replaced andrea ballerini. in australia, team achieved 1–2 victory, ballerini in first place , azuma in second. ajo attributed large portion of success combination of wet conditions , bridgestone tyres, optimal damp weather. 2004 season, team had 2 new riders in lukáš pešek , danish robbin harms. season disappointing 1 ajo, pešek crashed repeatedly , harms suffered several injuries. pešek moved derbi team next season.


japanese tomoyoshi koyama , french alexis masbou ajo s riders in 2005 season. koyama won rookie of year title, team s second in 4 years. best results second place in australia , third in turkey; in overall standings held eighth place. team kept same riders following year obtained new bikes malaguti. both riders suffered many injuries affected season. masbou able ride 8 races , did not score points. koyama s best result sixth in estoril, , ended in 15th place in championship standings. in 2007, team raced derbi bikes, driven michael ranseder , robert mureșan. ranseder finished in points 13 times, while mureșan failed score.


ajo motorsport continued derbi 2008 season, mike di meglio , dominique aegerter riders. di meglio won 4 races (france, catalonia, germany , australia) , clinched world championship in australia, 2 races before end of season. aegerter finished eighth twice. sandro cortese accompanied dominique aegerter in 2009. team scored several podiums season did not manage win races. in 2010 season, ajo motorsport fielded marc márquez, sandro cortese , adrián martín. season big success team. márquez scored twelve poles , ten victories, , brought team second title in 3 years.
