in amateur processing, film removed camera , wound onto reel in complete darkness (usually inside darkroom safelight turned off or lightproof bag arm holes). reel holds film in spiral shape, space between each successive loop chemicals may flow freely across film s surfaces. reel placed in specially designed light-proof tank (called daylight processing tank or light-trap tank) retained until final washing complete.
