buet bengal tiger, first champion, acm icpc dhaka site contest , first team bangladesh participate in acm icpc world final.


acm icpc dhaka site contest started in 1997 initiative of professor a. l. haque of north south university (nsu). first event held on 18 november 1997 participation of 18 teams 11 institutions. bangladesh university of engineering , technology - buet bengal tigers team became champion , moved world final held on 28 february 1998 @ atlanta, georgia, united states. champion buet team of suman kumar nath (now @ microsoft research), rezaul alam chowdhury (ut austin) , tarique mesbaul islam (waterloo) occupied 24th position in world final among 54 teams tying stanford university. same year, nsu team received wild card being host of dhaka site regional contest , participated in world final.


north south university hosted event 12 times 1997 1999, 2004 2006, 2008 2011, 2013 , 2015 while bangladesh university of engineering , technology hosted thrice 2001 2003. east west university hosted event in 2007. daffodil international university hosted event in 2012. bangladesh university of business , technology hosted event in 2014.
