monmouth engaged in heavy combat dutch ships delft , alkmaar, capturing both, although delft sank on way back. in battle monmouth had 5 men killed , 22 wounded. in 1847 admiralty awarded naval general service medal clasp camperdown surviving claimants action.


in march 1798, robert deans became captain. monmouth among 7 vessels of lord duncan s fleet shared in prize money privateer jupiter, captured on 27 april.


in january 1799 vice-admiral archibald dickson raised flag in her, went sheerness in march repairs. next month, captain george hart, retained command until 1805, replaced deans. monmouth among vessels sharing in prize money sundry dutch doggers, schuyts, , fishing vessels, taken in april , may. monarch part of squadron in may captured roose (12 may), genet, polly, american, forsigtigheid, , bergen (all 14 may), des finch (21 may), , vrow dorothea (30 may).


that summer, monmouth took part in helder expedition, joint anglo-russian invasion of holland under command of vice-admiral andrew mitchell. @ neiuw diep british captured 7 warships , 13 indiamen , transports. mitchell obtained surrender of squadron of navy of batavian republic in vlieter incident. dutch surrendered twelve vessels ranging down in size 74-gun washington 16-gun brig galathea. next, monmouth among vessels sharing in capture on 17 august of adelarde. on 15 september monmouth, several other british vessels , 2 russian, arrived @ sheerness escort 5 dutch ships of line, 3 frigates , 1 sloop.


monmouth sailed mediterranean in june 1801. therefore came share in proceeds of capture of almas di purgatoria off alexandria on 28 july. because monmouth served in navy s egyptian campaign (8 march 8 september 1801), officers , crew qualified clasp egypt naval general service medal admiralty authorised in 1850 surviving claimants.
