the benson & hedges cup consisted of teams isl , top teams british national league. in 1997–98 season, twelve teams in total split 2 regional groups playing each team in group once @ home , once away. top 4 teams of each group progressed quarter finals teams paired off , winning team on aggregate (after playing home , away) progressed semi finals. again winning team on aggregate progressed one-off final game held @ sheffield arena.
