Description Bombus muscorum



a male moss carder bee in deepsyke forest, peeblesshire, scotland on aster flower.


b. muscorum characterized oblong face , long tongue. bristles of species ginger in color , cover head, thorax, , abdomen. abdomen, however, can have darker, brownish coloring. in subspecies, black bristles intermixed ginger bristles characterize species. subspecies have entirely black ventral side. species similar in appearance more common bombus pascuorum. queen has body length 17–19 mm , wingspan of 32–35 mm. workers have body length of 10–16 mm , wingspan of 26–29 mm. males have body length of 13–15 mm , wingspan of 26–29 mm.
