History Seashore Trolley Museum



a 1918-built car of eastern mass. street railway


after war, conversion of trolley lines buses resumed, , created period of rapid growth museum s collection.


in 1950s, diesel-powered electric generator used allow cars move under own power. car 31 moved small building repaired , restored.


in 1980, ten of museum s trolley , railroad cars listed on national register of historic places (as maine trolley cars ). these include trolley #31 , other vehicles either built or operated in maine. 2 cars of aroostook valley railroad, , 2 built york utilities company of sanford included in collection.


as of 2010, museum had on 260 vehicles. while new england , other areas of united states, trolleys canada, australia, japan, germany, hungary, england, scotland, italy, , several other countries in collection. ironically, 1 of motor buses museum owns biddeford , saco #31, bus replaced trolley #31 in 1939. bus donated museum bus company. seashore trolley museum continues acquire new vehicles collection.


the museum open 10 5 pm. memorial day columbus day, open daily, , first weekend of may through memorial day, , columbus day last weekend in october, open on weekends.
