unicoi county situated entirely within blue ridge mountains, bald mountains (south of nolichucky) , unaka range (north of nolichucky). big bald, @ 5,516 feet (1,681 m) highest mountain in balds, unicoi county s high point. traversed appalachian trail, mountain topped grassy bald, allowing 360-degree view of surrounding mountains.
