the older portion of mililani west of interstate h-2 known mililani town. newer portion of mililani east of interstate h-2 known mililani mauka. of mililani s commercial , retail centers in mililani town. third region of mililani launani valley, secluded, master planned development located below mililani tech park on wikao street. area developed towne , contains blend of townhome , single family units.


on april 6, 1990, ground broken mililani mauka, newer , more upscale community east of interstate h-2. first homeowners moved mauka in 1992.


in 2003 mililani designated pilot site city , county of honolulu s curbside recycling program. in 2005, money magazine named mililani 1 of best places live in u.s. in 2006, mililani ike elementary school first grade teacher phyllis nakama-kawamoto named hawaii s american star of teaching u.s. department of education.
