government of juan Álvarez (october-december 1855)

juárez law or law on administration of justice , courts organic nation district , territories: issued benito juarez on 23 november 1855. law rejected bishops archbishops of mexico, since restricted ecclesiastical privileges (fueros).
lafragua law or freedom of press law: allowed freedom of expression in print media, entered force on 28 december 1855. promulgated secretary of foreign affairs , interior josé maría lafragua.

decree abolished civil coercion of religious vows, promulgated april 26, 1856.
decree suppressed society of jesus in mexico, promulgated june 5, 1856.
lerdo law or law of confiscation of property plots , urban civil , ecclesiastical corporations: forced civil, such indian communities, , ecclesiastical corporations sell houses , land private individuals. drafted miguel lerdo de tejada (brother of sebastian lerdo de tejada) , promulgated june 25, 1856. considered controversial of reform laws, part of process had been initiated during spanish rule in eighteenth century.
lafragua law or civil registration act. through law, civil registry established births, marriages, , deaths, removing these roman catholic church had kept records of baptism, holy matrimony, , death. issued on january 27, 1857.

decree suppression of religious holidays: decree declared days taken holidays, prohibiting official assistance religious functions.
law on freedom of religion: law catholicism ceased 1 allowed. law allowed each person free practice , choose cult wished conducting ceremonies banned outside churches or temples. issued in veracruz on december 4, 1860.
expulsion decree: exile luis clementi apostolic delegate, archbishop josé lázaro de la garza y ballesteros , pedro espinosa, bishops , davalos , pedro moreno barajas , ordered. released in mexico city on january 21, 1861.
decree of hospitals , charity: secularized these properties. released in mexico city on february 2, 1861.
decree of secularization of nuns , friars throughout republic cloisters , monasteries decreeing exit of religious men , women living there, exception of sisters of charity died.
