the college s affiliated rugby teams bede rfc (the men s team, playing in traditional bede college colours of light , dark blue) , hild rfc (the women s team, playing in traditional st hild s college colours of green, purple , white).


in epiphany 2014, bede rfc secured ‘double’: winning both league , floodlit cup. having finished season winning 15/16 matches, scoring 47 tries , conceding seven, bede have cemented status 1 of best rugby teams in college’s recent history. side assured of league victory 4 matches still in hand.

boat club

the boat club can boast recent successes; qualifying henley royal regatta in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 , 2016.


theatre

hild bede theatre biggest college drama society in durham , puts on @ least 3 productions annually, including musical @ beginning of third term. in 2009-10 won 2 durham oscars, best college play s afraid of virginia woolf , best college musical 42nd street. have won latter more times other durham theatre group, having won last 7 years in row.


cinema

hild bede houses student cinema in durham, bede film society. society used showcase recent films on 35mm projector, but, in celebration of bede film society s 50th anniversary, has since installed new digital projector funded £40,000 of alumni donations, dolby digital surround sound. films shown on weekends of term, occasional midweek showing. society started on fifty years ago, before merging of 2 colleges, showing films on 16mm projector.

each year, several members of college awarded ann boynton award outstanding contribution college, embody spirit of college whilst maintaining outstanding academic excellence.
