each small 3-by-3 tic-tac-toe board referred local board, , larger 3-by-3 board referred global board.


the game starts x playing wherever wants in of 81 empty spots. move sends opponent relative location. example, if x played in top right square of local board, o needs play next in local board @ top right of global board. o can play in 1 of 9 available spots in local board, each move sending x different local board.


if move played win local board rules of normal tic-tac-toe, wins local board.


once outcome of local board decided (win or draw), no more moves may played in board. if player sent such board, player may play in other board.


game play ends when either player wins global board, or there no legal moves remaining.
