the asmara city hall appeared on city s last revenue stamps of 1960.


asmara s first revenues issued in 1940 showing city s coat of arms. when italian colony, 2 sets issued, 1 health inspection fees (diritti sanitari) , other secretariat fees (diritti di segretaria).


when british occupied eritrea, asmara issued stamps use general duty revenues. stamps of italian colonies overprinted asmara municipality revenue, , value in cents or shillings. when eritrea became part of ethiopia, asmara s revenues still of italian colonies overprinted. however, overprint in italian, reading municipio asmara, , new values in ethiopian dollars.


an additional 2 stamps issued asmara in 1960. these showed city hall , inscribed segnatasse. meant postage due, regarded revenues since used fiscal purposes , never used postage dues.
